the sanctuary
The Sanctuary is a safe, supportive emergency shelter program designed for youth ages 10 - 17 who are experiencing homelessness, housing instability, or crisis situations. Funded by the Basic Center Program, The Sanctuary provides temporary housing for up to 21 days, along with counseling, resources, and life skills development to help youth find stability and plan for their future.
Who We Serve
Youth may come to The Sanctuary for various reasons, including:
-
Being asked to leave or kicked out of their home.
-
Fleeing an unsafe or violent environment.
-
Couch surfing or staying with friends or relatives without a stable place to live.
-
Sleeping in cars, bus stations, or other unsafe locations.
We recognize that experiencing homelessness, even for a short time, can be traumatic. Our goal is to provide youth with a safe place to stay, connect them with caring adults, and equip them with the support and resources they need to move forward.
